Quite simply, I have always loved lettering, handwriting, typography, manuscripts, pattern, print, whatever…
Our scrawl is a manifestation of individuality, and, developing this visual through creative means has been quite fascinating from both a technical and aesthetic perspective.
A personal study of Medieval manuscripts has inspired me to work in traditional and contemporary mode, employing centuries old techniques with today’s materials – the best of both worlds.
I enjoy the discipline and technical skills required to create lettering and realism fused with pattern and colour – no other explanation is necessary.
My initial training was at Loughborough University School of Art & Design (B.A. Hons. Degree Printed Textile Design); I am a founder member of Harding House Gallery Co-operative on Steep Hill in Lincoln (formed 1994), and I have produced work for cathedrals, churches, schools, galleries, Selfridges and Fortnum & Mason, and domestic environments – corporate, ecclesiastical and privately commissioned.
